What We Do – Our Methodology
THE HANDEL Method®
The Handel Method was created by HG Co-founder, Lauren Zander over the past 15 years through working with thousands of individuals and is the foundation of the work we do with our coaching clients, as well as our work in Universities and businesses. It is informed by a central belief in the power of speaking the truth and is revolutionary in that we believe that having Personal IntegrityTM is the most direct avenue toward creating and sustaining true happiness in life. We train people to identify and define their Personal IntegrityTM and to learn to live from and honor their highest ideals and values. Doing so makes it possible to effect permanent change in the areas of life that require attention, and to fulfill any dream or goal.
We have found that there is a lack of deliberate design in most people’s lives. People find a way to adapt to any situation or circumstance and become stuck in their explanations and excuses for why their life is the way it is. Over time, they start to believe their own explanations and it becomes more and more difficult to believe something else is possible because they’ve grown accustomed to the way things are. We work with you to address your fears, thoughts, and deep beliefs that are ‘explaining’ your life away. We get you thinking, creating, inventing and dreaming.
Below are summaries of some of the many concepts that we use in our work:
PERSONALITY TRAITS™
Every single human has some negative traits that don’t serve him or her. Usually, these traits go undistinguished or ignored and can wreak havoc in one’s personal and professional lives. Our coaching allows people to tell the truth and discover which personality traits they need to investigate and alter in order to be extraordinary humans – or just plain happy.
PERSONAL INTEGRITY™
Personal Integrity is about taking the ‘right’ actions moment to moment in life. These are not the actions that follow the path of least resistance, or the ones that are based on inner fear or domination; these are the actions that you believe are the right ones to take. A real, profound happiness comes from the state of deep integrity that occurs when you can trust yourself to keep and live by your word in matters big and small. One could say it is lining up your heart, your head and your actions. Accessing everything you want in your life must start with the learning, building, understanding, believing and implementing of your own Personal Integrity®.
UNRAVELING YOUR PERSONAL HISTORY™
It is easy to see that the way we have interpreted or “connected the dots” of everything we have experienced, has led us to exactly where we are in life right now. The uncanny surprise in Unraveling Your Personal History™ however, is that located in our memories and deep imprints of experiences are inaccuracies and misinterpretations that can have a staggering impact on how we live life on a day-to-day basis.
Because we are each living in potential misunderstandings of our past life events, we end up in “default missions” in which the level of what is possible for our lives has been dramatically reduced. Therefore it makes sense that by going back and clearing up the misinterpretations and inaccuracies — reconnecting the dots –- through a process we call Unraveling, can make available an altogether different life.
18 AREAS OF LIFE™
We say that your life is comprised of 18 different areas: health, career, friendships, love, etc. You are constantly in the process of designing and experiencing these 18 areas, whether you are aware of it or not. The more you consciously address and author each and every area of your life, the happier you become. To be deeply happy is to be proud of each and every area of your life. Not that they all have to be perfect and complete–that is unrealistic. You just need to be taking the right actions in order to impact the areas you are not happy with. That is what causes true satisfaction.
However, we have found that people often do not deliberately design the 18 areas of their lives, and instead “follow the flow” or adapt to the situations or circumstances that come their way. People have excuses, explanations, and justifications for why things turned out the way they did. Over time, they start to believe their own explanations, and thus deny the power they have to design their lives. It becomes more and more difficult to believe that something else is possible.
