"My Thoughts on the Current Economic Climate"
What does the "economic crisis" have to do with life coaching? Here's a little secret, HG coaches like it when chickens come home to roost. Major life changes and tragedies have a way of waking people up and making them deal.

I won't spend any time here complaining about dishonesty in the business world (Given, I coach people all day, I already know how prone humans are to lying and cheating and overspending.) Nor will I beat my chest over how bad it all is or even worry for anyone. Don't hate me, but I think it's a great time for people to hunker down and deal with lies and honesty. Instead of spending any time fretting over other people's lies and the fallout, '09 can be all about searching out and rectifying your own. That we are all getting smacked up side the head to pay attention to the integrity of things, to mind greed, and to stop spending money we don't have is great. We should face facts and grow up as a country, better than doing it alone!
When my husband and I were saving up for our dream home (the five floor townhouse we now own in Manhattan) for a time we had to pay two huge mortgages and we had to severely cut our spending. We went from spending over $1000 month on food for a family of 4 down to about $375/month and what was so exciting about it is that we had fun doing it, we made it a game. We decided to enjoy going to our local supermarket instead of Fairway and finding deals, eating in instead of out and doing all kinds of activities for cheap and free that we never tried before. I am not asking you to be frugal for the sake of being frugal and I'd hate to take your attention away from all of the ways you could find a new job, make more money or just attract all that you want through the practices of manifesting. My point is this: If you are grumpy about the economy, business slowing down, losing your job or the possibility of losing your job-CHANGE YOUR MIND! We could have saved money being grumpy or having fun, and at first I was VERY GRUMPY but as soon as my inner brat simmered down, I was able to design a very inexpensive lifestyle that really kept me focused on what was most important: nourishing my body, intimate times with my husband and kids and work that I love. I remember when I was complaining about giving up my personal trainer (temporarily!) saying that he gave me such a better workout. My coach told me to learn to kick my own butt and I did! I was so proud.
At the heart of HG life coaching is the technique of "changing your mind." If thoughts and philosophies create your reality, your thoughts about your career and money situation are very crucial right now. Please be part of the gang that makes it through this hard time with grace and even joy. It is certainly possible. Hard times are when your real strength shows. Everyone can kick butt at the beginning of a workout, only those with courage and mental power can keep up full force the whole time. It's good to have hard workouts that make you sweat, stretch, expand and build new muscle. It's good to have challenges. Please make '09 your opportunity to shine and prove something to yourself about yourself.
If you or someone you know needs a little (or a really big!) attitude adjustment, I am leading a one-day seminar called: Surviving and Thriving During Hard Times on January 24th at NYU in Manhattan from 10am-4pm. I have invited a panel of experts to join me for a day of major fun and self-improvement geared toward succeeding in this challenging and exciting economic climate. There is more detailed info below.
And if I accidentally convinced you to be frugal; all of our specialty groups have early bird specials running. Email us at coach@handelgroup.com for more info on "Dream Body" (our weight loss group), "Finding The One" (how to date and mean it) or "Sex, Intimacy and Staying in Love" (how to revive your relationship.)
Money is going to continue to be spent, earned and handed back and forth among people. This should be a year of very good bargains, don't miss it!
PS: Thanks for reading this far and sorry about the "commercial" within my blog. It won't happen often, but I am excited about the "Surviving and Thriving" event which I think is a great resource. I hope to see some of you there! SANDT
