Samantha leads and manages a team of 20 talented Handel coaches who are out to teach people how to get what they want in life. Samantha is building Handel Group Life Coaching to offer programs suited to diverse needs, with the aim of helping greater and greater numbers of people live their dream lives.
Samantha earned a Ph.D. in Biological Engineering at MIT as a Howard Hughes Pre-Doctoral Fellow, and a BS in Electrical Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She then decided to aim her creativity, sense of scientific inquiry, love of humanity and structured engineering outlook at helping people engineer better lives for themselves.
Prior to serving as President of Handel Group, Samantha served as Vice President and Director of Courses and Seminars for three years, in which role she built the Design Your Life Weekend into the Handel Group’s® flagship course offering. By her design, the Design Your Life Weekend is now a large-scale event held in numerous cities around the world.
Samantha is also a Senior Coach herself, who teaches the Handel Method® in a variety of settings, including Stanford University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Scripps Research Institute, and the National Cancer Institute. She has been invited as a guest speaker at multiple conferences and programs, such as the Asian American Journalist Association Executive Leadership Workshop, FORWARD to Professorship Workshop, Alberta Innovates iGEM conference, the MIT Community Catalyst Leadership Program, and the AOE Women in Engineering conference.
Samantha has complemented her HGLC training with yoga, studies at a Buddhist monastery, and mediation training. Samantha has volunteered in Thailand, Tanzania, rural France, and a Lakota Sioux reservation. From these experiences, she learned how to tailor messages to suit people of different cultural backgrounds. As a result, one of Samantha’s career goals is to bring the Handel Method® to other countries in culturally appropriate ways.
Through her work with the Handel Method®, Samantha has learned how to understand what makes her happy, and take action on it. This has led her to leave scientific academia and become a coach, call off an engagement to find what love meant to her, lose weight, and move to her dream city of Manhattan. Samantha has built juicy and strong relationships with her partner, friends, and family by telling the truth, being vulnerable, and connecting to her love for them.
Samantha, originally from Urbana, Illinois, currently enjoys living amongst the diversity of Manhattan.
