Education Division
The Handel Group Education Division is on a mission to modernize traditional models of education by teaching students that they can design their lives and create results which make them proud. We believe education should address every area of life and include instruction in how to live life powerfully, effectively, and with deep regard for what is possible. Our commitment is to bring The Handel Method into the formal education system, creating a unique opportunity for all people to learn to face and solve universal personal issues.
In 2006, The Handel Group’s Education Division partnered with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to develop the groundbreaking course, Living an Extraordinary Life, as part of the Science, Technology and Society Program. This course, taught by Handel Group Founder and MIT Visiting Scholar Lauren Zander and Handel Group Educational Division President, Gaby Jordan, provides an exciting, eye-opening, and thoroughly useful inquiry into what it takes to live an extraordinary life. In the 2006/2007 academic year The Handel Group led more than sixty students through this optional, non-credit exploration of their own lives. Participants included undergraduates, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, alumni, and MIT staff members. The course was so successful that MIT funded a grant for its continuation. In January 2008, Living an Extraordinary Life began its third year with over 70 students registered for the course. In addition, The Handel Group courses have been presented to the Sloan Fellows at the MIT Sloan School of Management, the residents in the department of anesthesiology at NYU School of Medicine, and in a new course at Rutgers Business School, Love and Money. Most recently, The Handel Group has started a training program for professors to teach Handel Method courses in their affiliated schools, with institutional funding for professor training and licensing of the Handel Method.
