Katie Torpey is an award-winning screenwriter/filmmaker with an MFA from UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. She has sold several screenplays, written for television and worked for numerous studios and networks. She co-created the animated TV show “Mother Up!” starring Eva Longoria, which was one of Hulu’s first original animated series. She also was one of the head writers for the TV show Power Rangers produced by Disney and Saban. She wrote and directed the independent film “Truth About Kerry” shot in Ireland, starring Stana Katic (TV show Castle) which was released in April 2012. Her romantic comedy “On the Other Side,” hit theaters in Bollywood in 2006. Her original screenplay “The Perfect Man” starring Hilary Duff, Heather Locklear and Chris Noth was released in the summer of 2005. Her latest screenplay, “Spaghetti Park,” is currently in pre-production and slated to shoot in 2018, and she is in the progress of adapting her memoir, “Just Breathe,” into a screenplay.
In January 2017, Katie launched her own production company, Your Story Productions, a Film, Television, and Digital Media Company that focuses on creating content that entertains and makes a difference. Katie will be teaching Advanced Screenwriting in the MFA Screenwriting Program at UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television during the 2017-2018 school year.
Katie is bi-coastal and lives in CT and Los Angeles.
